Radiation Resistant Cameras
Radiation shielded inspection cameras, CCTV and lighting have traditionally been the main areas of the Ahlberg product range. Complete systems, like the 4-face fuel inspection system, and software, like the fuel assembly bow measurement software, have the last years gained more and more interest.

Over 160 nuclear plant units in 20 countries use equipment from Ahlberg Cameras. Nuclear power plants and waste storage plants make up the biggest customer group, but also nuclear fuel manufacturers and NDT-companies use Ahlberg Cameras for their services.

Systems like “4-face fuel inspection system” and “Mast camera system” are made up of standard Ahlberg Cameras radiation shielded equipment that is tailor made built together to fit in our customers´ premises. Design and installation is done in collaboration between Ahlberg Cameras engineers and nuclear plant staff.

Software applications are used to get more out of camera operations. It could be image improvements to discover cracks, or measurement programs to calculate harmful nuclear fuel assembly bending.

HI-RAD-XS EXTRA SMALL HD COLOUR PTZ CAMERA
HI-RAD XS is an extra small 720p HD PTZ colour camera. It has x10 optical zoom and built-in pan&tilt functions. HI-RAD XS is used for underwater inspections in confined irradiated areas, where superior color rendition and high definition resolution is needed.

PTZ620 HD COLOUR CAMERA WITH MIRROR AND ROTATION UNIT
PTZ620 is a small-size radiation tolerant SD/HD colour camera. With its mirror and rotation unit the PTZ620 is a camera which can look sideways around corners and under edges for inspection of areas where other cameras fail to perform. PTZ620 is ideal for use in high radiation areas with limited space like inside nozzles and pipes.

Z 630 SMALL SIZE UNDERWATER HD COLOUR CAMERA

CCTV90 NEUTRON AND GAMMA SHIELDED CCTV HD COLOUR CAMERA
The CCTV90 is a radiation hardened colour CCTV camera that is designed for placement in air in areas with high levels of gamma and neutron radiation. MINI-RAD COLOUR CAMERA
The Mini-Rad is a mini colour camera available with or without LED-ring lighting. Its small size makes it suitable for inspection and monitoring in confined spaces in reactor and fuel pools. The camera can easily be adjusted to different areas of interest by changing lenses and setting focus from the outside.

LED Drop Light is designed to be hanging in its cable and be dropped down underwater in a nuclear pond. The light endures years of continuous operation without having to be exchanged, thus minimizing maintenance work.

SOFTWARES
  • INSPECTION STATION : The Inspection Station is a software that performs a number of image processing functions such as; Thermal removal, Radiation Noise Removal, Contrast Optimization, Video Stabilization, Brightness Control and more. These functions can be applied both on live video as well as on recorded files.
  • CONTRAST OPTIMIZATION : The Contrast Optimization software improves and clarifies video and images through functions such as contrast stretching, sharpening and brightness control. The software improves the image through pixel elaboration, each pixel is modified without manipulation of the original image.
  • NOISE REMOVAL : The Noise Removal software reduces the number of dots (snow) that can appear on a video from a camera that is exposed of high levels of radiation. The software improves the image through pixel elaboration, each pixel is modified without manipulation of the original image.
  • THERMAL REMOVAL : The Thermal Removal software is primarily used to facilitate reading of fuel assembly numbers during core mapping. The natural creation of thermals in the water can be disturbing when numbers or assembly details shall be seen, the SW reduces this negative effect on the visibility.
  • IMAGE MEASUREMENT : The Image measurement software enables sizing of objects during the course of inspection. The software measures two-dimensional objects by mouse-clicking in a captured image, it is required that the user adds a known reference before measuring.
  • BOW MEASUREMENT : The bow measurement software calculates possible bending of each fuel assembly. This is valuable information since bent fuel can lead to locally reduced cooling of the fuel which in turn can lead to fuel damages. An online 4-face fuel inspection system is a prerequisite to do calculations with the bow measurement software.
  • GAP MEASUREMENT : The gap measurement software is used to automatically calculate the gaps between fuel assemblies. The calculations are based on the recordings made at the core mapping process which is carried out after the core reload. The results are presented soon after the core mapping is finished.
